Stagecoach
extends Wheelsure trial
Following on from a successful 7 month trial of Wheelsure’s
wheel nut locking device, Stagecoach has decided to extend
the trial to include another 25 vehicles for a further period
of 3 months. The device will be fitted to 25 Volvo B10M coaches
based at Stagecoach’s depot in Fife, bringing the total
number of vehicles trialling the product at that depot to
29.
Sandy Brydon, Stagecoach Fife’s Engineering Director,
confirmed: “we have been very impressed with the results
of the initial trial phase. Having discussed the results at
our engineering meetings we decided the way forward was to
increase the number of vehicles fitted with the product to
extend the trial. We already employ comprehensive maintenance
processes. However, if the trial continues to go well, I would
like to see the Wheelsure device included as a compulsory
fitment for all our vehicles, to ensure good working practices.”
The device being used at Stagecoach is
Wheelsure’s second generation product, which has been
developed specifically for the retro-fit market. It enables
operators to fit the device to their vehicles utilising the
existing stud, provided it is in good condition. Therefore,
keeping costs down and enabling fitting to take place during
scheduled routine maintenance.
